2020 LGS Preferences Begin Tomorrow! The results of the 2020 LGS exam were announced recently. After a total of 1.4 million students sat for the exam, the next step is the preference (placement) process. The 2020 LGS preference period starts on Monday, July 20. Preferences for 2020 will be completed through the e-Okul system. Once exam results were finalized, students who took the LGS began preparing to select their desired high schools. You can find details about the LGS preference process below.
How Are 2020 LGS Preferences Made?
With the release of the LGS preference guide, the selection period has officially begun. Students choosing high schools first completed the LGS exam. In the previous year, candidates could make up to 15 total school choices across three categories: up to five schools under Local Placement (Yerel Yerleştirme), up to five under Central Exam Placement (Merkezi Sınav ile Öğrenci Alan Okullar), and up to five from Boarding Schools (Pansiyonlu Okullar). Choices could be entered by the student or parent via the e-Okul system or through any middle school or imam-hatip middle school administration. All selections required confirmation at the respective middle school administration office.
When Will 2020 LGS Placement Results Be Announced?
Preferences will be submitted by parents or guardians between July 20 and July 29, 2020, and must be completed by 17:00 on July 29. Submission is done according to the preference lists published on meb.gov.tr or eokul.meb.gov.tr.
Students who successfully completed 8th grade at middle schools or imam-hatip middle schools during the 2019–2020 academic year, or who graduated from temporary education centers or the Open Education Middle School, will be placed according to school quotas and ranking based on exam scores for schools that admit by exam. For schools admitting students via local placement, provincial and district education directorates will assign students to schools in the defined secondary education registration areas based on school type, quota, and location, taking into account students’ residence addresses, school success scores, and attendance records. Placement results will be announced on August 10, 2020.
