Property tax payments for 2020 have begun. According to the latest updates, the first installment of the 2020 property tax started in May. Payments that begin in early May will continue through the end of the month. The second installment for 2020 will be payable from the start of November until the end of November. Citizens who miss the final payment deadline will face late payment penalties.
Property tax is paid in two equal installments each year. With the arrival of May, the 2020 property tax payment period has opened. The first installment is due during May, while the second installment is due during November, with payments accepted through the end of that month.
Who Is Exempt from Property Tax?
Certain groups are exempt from paying property tax. The following categories are generally considered exempt:
- Individuals who declare they have no income,
- Those receiving only a pension from the Social Security Institution,
- War veterans,
- People with disabilities,
- Homes owned by martyrs, widows and orphans are exempt provided the residence does not exceed 200 square meters gross.
Property tax is collected in two equal installments each year. The first installment is due by the end of May and the second by the end of November. The first installment for 2020 is now payable. If the tax is not paid within the specified period, a monthly late interest rate of 1.6% will be applied for each month of delay.
