The March 2020 AÖL exams have been postponed. Measures against the coronavirus continue to increase every day. The Open Education High School (AÖL) exams that were scheduled for March 21–22, 2020 have been postponed as part of these precautions. According to an announcement by Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk, the Open Education Institutions exams have been deferred to a later date in line with coronavirus precautions. Under the 2020 academic calendar, the AÖL exams were originally set for March 21–22, 2020.
As the coronavirus spreads worldwide and affects our country, the Open Education High School exams have been pushed back to a later date. This notice is intended for students who were due to sit the exam. With the postponement now official, attention has turned to when the rescheduled exams will take place.
Explaining the decision on his Twitter account, Minister Ziya Selçuk announced that the AÖL exams planned for March 21–22, 2020 have been postponed as a precaution against the coronavirus. He also noted that the postponed exams will be combined with additional exam sessions.
Minister Selçuk’s Statement on the 2020 AÖL Exams
Following the detection of coronavirus cases in Turkey, the authorities have continued to implement significant protective measures. One of these measures was to postpone the AÖL exams originally scheduled for March 21–22, 2020. In his Twitter statement, Minister Ziya Selçuk confirmed that the Open Education High School exams planned for those dates have been postponed.
In his message, Minister Selçuk added further details: “We continue to take precautions against the coronavirus. We have postponed the Open Education High School exams that were planned for March 21–22, 2020. Approximately 3 million students were expected to take these exams, and more than 400,000 teachers were scheduled to serve as staff. The postponed Open Education Institutions exams, including those for students abroad, will be held in September 2020. The rescheduled exams will be conducted together with additional exam sessions.”
