Speed camera fine is the penalty imposed when a driver exceeds the legal speed limit during inspections carried out by fixed automated systems (EDS) or mobile radar units. With the 2024 revaluation rates, speed camera fines have been updated. You can perform a speed camera fine inquiry to check whether you have received a fine and pay it online.

In this article we explain how much speed camera fines are in 2024, how to pay them, and the fines applied based on different speeding thresholds. Below you will find all the key details about speed camera fines.

WHAT IS A SPEED CAMERA FINE?

Speed camera fine is an administrative sanction applied to drivers who exceed the speed limits set for roads. In Turkey, radars placed at specific points measure vehicle speeds and identify drivers who exceed the limit.

Drivers or vehicles that exceed the legal speed limit on a given route are subject to administrative monetary fines. Fines paid early are eligible for a discount; if payment is delayed, additional penalties and interest may be added. Drivers who receive speed camera fines have the right to appeal within legal timeframes following prescribed procedures. You will find more details about these procedures later in the article.

HOW MUCH ARE SPEED CAMERA FINES IN 2024?

2024 speed camera fines vary depending on how much the speed limit is exceeded. The fines are established as follows:

If you exceed the speed limit by 10%–30%, the fine is 1,508.50 TL and 10 penalty points. If you pay with the 25% early-payment discount, the amount is 1,131.37 TL.

If you exceed the speed limit by 30%–50%, the fine is 3,136 TL and 15 penalty points. The 25% discounted amount is 2,352 TL.

If you exceed the speed limit by more than 50%, the fine is 6,440 TL and 15 penalty points. With the 25% early-payment discount, the amount is 4,830 TL.

Is the fine assigned to the license plate or the driver’s license?

A speed camera fine can be issued to the vehicle’s license plate or to the driver’s license. Fines issued to the plate are delivered by post. Fines issued to the driver’s license appear in your e-Government (e-Devlet) account.

HOW TO PAY A SPEED CAMERA FINE?

Speed camera fines can be paid through several channels. Payment options include:

  • Tax office cashier desks,
  • GİB Interactive Tax Office,
  • PTT branches,
  • Partner banks.

If you prefer to pay online, you can use the GİB Interactive Tax Office or your bank’s internet banking. Other options require visiting the relevant payment point in person.

HOW TO APPEAL A SPEED CAMERA FINE?

If you wish to appeal a speed camera fine, you must file a petition to the Court of Criminal Peace (Sulh Ceza Mahkemesi) within 15 days from the date the fine was served, requesting cancellation of the fine.

Your appeal should be supported by valid and concrete evidence. If the appeal is found to be unfounded, the court may require you to cover all associated costs.
