The validity period for disability reports has been extended until the end of May 2020 due to the coronavirus. According to a breaking news announcement, the specified period has been extended through May 2020. In line with measures announced by the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Services, Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, an additional precaution has been added to the steps taken against COVID-19. To avoid occupying health institutions with non-urgent matters and to protect public health, the validity of reports for those receiving in-home care for disabilities has been extended until May 2020.
Statement from Minister Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk on the Matter
In her statement, Minister Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk reiterated that, as part of the fight against the coronavirus, officials have added another measure to avoid burdening healthcare facilities with non-essential visits and to reduce risks to public health. According to the minister, the use period for reports that expired on or after January 1, 2020, for citizens receiving disability pensions or in-home care payments has been extended through the end of May 2020.
Earlier announcements had already stated that reports expiring on or after March 1, 2020, would also be accepted as valid until the end of May 2020, to prevent hardship among disabled citizens. Minister Selçuk noted that instructions issued to all 81 provinces ensure that people whose reports expired between January 1 and March 1, 2020, will not lose their rights.
