Interest in prefabricated houses has increased after earthquakes affected 10 provinces. As housing assistance for low-income people who want to build their own homes was announced, the conditions and application process for prefabricated house assistance were clarified. President Erdoğan shared details of the aid.
Support Amounts for Household Renovation, Major Repair and Construction Programs
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also commented on the assistance provided by the General Directorate of Social Assistance at the Ministry of Family and Social Services.
Erdoğan stated: “We increased prefabricated house construction assistance from 40,000 to 150,000 TL, reinforced concrete house aid from 70,000 to 200,000 TL, orphan assistance from 300 to 600 TL, support for widowed women from 500 to 1,000 TL, and conditional health assistance from 55 to 100 TL.” The ministry announced a further update that raised approved amounts again, noting that the generally approved figure is now 180,000 TL.
Under the announced Household Renovation, Major Repair and Construction Program, and provided applicants meet the established criteria and their needs, support will be provided as follows: home repairs between 35,000 and 100,000 TL, prefabricated home construction up to 200,000 TL, and reinforced concrete home construction up to 300,000 TL.
What Are the Application Requirements for Prefabricated House Assistance Determined by the Ministry of Family and Social Policies?
The ministry’s stated application requirements are as follows:
- Household per-person income is less than one-third of the net minimum wage (for 2023, 2,835.60 TL)
- Presence of one or more specific conditions such as old age, disability, single-parent household, or widowhood
- Ownership of full-share title deed for the house to be repaired or for the land where a new house will be built
Eligible applicants can apply for housing assistance at the district governor’s offices (Kaymakamlık) or through the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations in the province and district where they live. Those who meet the conditions will receive financial support for home repairs or construction according to their needs.
