The Ministry of Interior Issued a Travel Restriction Circular! The Ministry of Interior has sent a circular on city entry and exit travel restrictions to the governors of all 81 provinces. According to the content of the circular sent to the 81 provincial governorships, the travel restrictions that have been applied in 15 provinces will end tonight at 24:00.

The Ministry of Interior has issued a circular to the 81 provincial governorships concerning city entry and exit restrictions. Under the measures to control the coronavirus and to minimize social mobility and interpersonal contact, restrictions on entry and exit between provinces were initially imposed in 30 metropolitan municipalities and the province of Zonguldak. Under that decision, all entries and exits to those provinces by air, land, and sea were restricted. Later, the restrictions were lifted in some provinces and continued to be applied in 14 metropolitan municipalities and Zonguldak. The interprovincial entry and exit ban that had continued in 15 provinces will be lifted as of Sunday, May 31 at 24:00.

How Will Interprovincial Travel Be Conducted?

How will interprovincial travel be conducted? After the cabinet meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday, May 28, the decisions taken during the meeting were announced by the President. According to that announcement, based on recommendations from the Scientific Advisory Board, the travel restrictions applied in 14 metropolitan municipalities and Zonguldak will be lifted on Sunday, May 31 at 24:00.

Following the end of the travel restrictions at 24:00 on May 31, 2020, interprovincial travel using public transport will be conducted using a code obtained through the Hayat Eve Sığar (HES) application. After evaluation, the requirement to obtain a separate travel permit for journeys on interprovincial public transport has been removed. Ticketing for interprovincial travel will be completed after presenting the HES code obtained through the application. In addition, citizens aged 65 and over will still need to obtain a Travel Permit Document for their trips and will be allowed to travel one-way on the condition that they remain in the destination province for at least one month.
