You can check whether your vehicle has an outstanding Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) debt and track payments by using the MTV calculation process. Motor Vehicle Tax is not charged to citizens with a disability rate of 90% or higher; a medical certificate confirming the disability will exempt you from this tax. Vehicles registered to the state are also exempt from Motor Vehicle Tax. Once your vehicle is registered for traffic, you are required to pay MTV. To be exempt from paying MTV, your vehicle must have been scrapped and that status officially confirmed. Motor Vehicle Tax is payable in two equal installments each year, in January and July, covering the first and second six-month periods. You must have your vehicle registration document with you when making a payment.
How to Calculate MTV
You can quickly and easily check whether you owe MTV online. Below we provide a link to perform the MTV calculation. When you click the link, the page that opens will look like the image below.

As shown in the image above, the information required for the MTV calculation includes “Vehicle Type,” “Vehicle Age,” and “Engine Cylinder Capacity.” You will need these details. Enter them into the designated fields on the Revenue Administration’s official website (the fields shown in the image) and click “Calculate” to complete your vehicle’s MTV calculation.
