With the arrival of October, field sowing season has begun. Farmers who plan to plant their fields at this time are keen to know the most affordable seed prices and available quantities. Affordable seed supplies are provided by various cooperatives and public institutions.
Affordable Seed Prices
The Agricultural Credit Cooperative (Tarım Kredi Kooperatifi) sells domestic, high-quality seeds to help farmers access suitable seed varieties more easily. Seed prices change annually, and with the sowing months beginning many producers are looking for the 2020 seed prices and package sizes. The seeds offered by the cooperative are produced in-house with the goal of achieving high yields. The cooperative acquires products from its partner members and uses modern machinery to process and produce seed. These seeds are accompanied by the necessary certification. The cooperative also exports saplings, seedlings, ornamental plants and seeds abroad.

Using locally produced seeds enables farmers to achieve higher yields. Grafted and certified seeds help ensure that harvested crops reach a high quality from the moment they are sown. For this reason, many farmers prefer seeds supplied by the Agricultural Credit Cooperative as their first choice.
The cooperative’s seed brands and prices for 50-kilogram sacks are as follows:
- Aydan Hanım, Barley, 50 kg, 55 TL
- Müfit Bey, Wheat, 50 kg, 105 TL
- Arcanda, Barley, 50 kg, 100 TL
- Necibe, Wheat, 50 kg, 95 TL
- Ekiz, Wheat, 50 kg, 110 TL
- Dağdaş, Wheat, 50 kg, 110 TL
The cooperative may also supply cereal seed varieties; for these a tailored price offer is required.
General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) Seed Prices
The General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) produces certified seeds designed for high yields. TİGEM determines its seed prices based on the demand of private sector buyers and public institutions. Seed distribution is handled through Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, provincial and district agriculture directorates, and TİGEM dealers.
TİGEM 2020 seed prices were set as follows:
- Hairy vetch, standard, kg, 3 TL
- Seğmen hairy vetch, certified, kg, 4 TL
- Common vetch, certified, kg, 3 TL

Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Seed Support Prices
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s seed support prices were determined for 2020 as follows:
- Potato, kg, 80 TL
- Rye, oats, kg, 6 TL
- Paddy rice, kg, 8 TL
- Chickpea, dry bean, lentil, soy, kg, 20 TL
- Sesame, safflower, canola, kg, 5 TL
- Wheat, barley, kg, 8 TL
- Alfalfa, peanut, kg, 15 TL
- Clover, field pea, vetch, kg, 10 TL
To benefit from the ministry’s purchase support, farmers must apply to provincial or district agriculture directorates with seed analysis reports, certificate reports, invoices showing purchase prices, a signed application letter and a demand form. Farmers must also be registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) to receive support payments. After support is applied, a product bought at 20 TL per kilogram, for example, may effectively cost less once the subsidy is taken into account. Note that seeds must be purchased before applying to be eligible for support.
