500 TL Grant for University Students Enrolled in Distance Learning

After the devastating earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş that caused widespread trauma and many fatalities across the country, universities switched to remote instruction for the spring term. The quake, which heavily damaged 11 provinces, left communities working to recover and rebuild in its aftermath.

While many organizations have offered aid to those affected, municipalities have also stepped in. One such measure supports university students who will study remotely: a monthly 500 TL scholarship will be provided during the remote education period.

500 TL SCHOLARSHIP FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Recovery efforts continue in the region following the major earthquake in Kahramanmaraş. Education was suspended in affected areas and the spring term at universities moved to remote learning. In response, authorities announced financial support for students attending classes online.

Silivri Mayor Volkan Yılmaz announced on social media that 320 university students will receive a 500 TL scholarship. The 2022–2023 spring term will be completed through remote instruction due to the earthquake.

320 STUDENTS TO RECEIVE 500 TL EACH MONTH

Following the earthquake, Turkey moved the 2022–2023 spring term to remote instruction. Silivri Mayor Volkan Yılmaz confirmed that the BizdenSize Social Market will continue providing 500 TL per month to 320 students, and those payments will be deposited into beneficiaries’ bank accounts without interruption.

WILL KYK SCHOLARSHIPS AND LOANS BE PAID?

Alongside municipal support, questions have arisen about whether state-provided KYK scholarships and loans for university students will continue. After the shift to remote learning, students and families sought clarification about ongoing payments. Current expectations indicate that KYK scholarships and loans will continue to be paid on their regular schedule.

Authorities have indicated that students will keep receiving their scholarships and loans during the remote education period, ensuring financial continuity while classes are held online.
