Minister Selçuk Announced: 11 More Medicines Added to the Reimbursement List! The Minister of Family, Labour and Social Services, Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, announced in a breaking statement that 11 additional medicines have been added to the reimbursement list. Minister Selçuk stated that of these 11 medicines, seven are intended for cancer treatment and four for multiple sclerosis (MS) therapy, all now covered by the Social Security Institution (SGK) reimbursement list.

Minister Selçuk provided more detail on the medicines included in the reimbursement list. Following updates to the Health Implementation Communiqué (SUT), four medicines for breast cancer, two for hematologic cancers, four for multiple sclerosis, and one for leukemia have been added—bringing the total number of reimbursed medicines to 8,603 to date.

Minister Selçuk also commented on measures related to the coronavirus. She said that many precautions have been taken in coordination with stakeholders and that regulatory changes supporting healthcare providers serving insured individuals continue to be implemented. As part of this announcement, COVID-19 diagnostic tests that can be billed together with services provided by healthcare providers have been defined in the supplementary communiqué.

Minister Selçuk continued by explaining that new procedure codes have been established for antigen tests, antibody tests, PCR tests, and isolation tests. In addition, a new procedure code has been defined under “viral inactivation procedure” for use in immunoglobulin or convalescent plasma therapy. This process removes infectious agents from plasma during treatment, helping to improve therapeutic outcomes.
