The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has launched an important project: the Mamak Eserkent Social Housing, which stood vacant for 18 years, has been renovated and offered for rent at just 100 TRY per month for low-income families, newly married couples, and people aged 65 and over. Applications for the Ankara social housing project will continue until January 15, 2021.
Live for Just 100 TRY per Month
The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality implemented a project aimed at helping low-income residents, newlyweds, and those aged 65 and older. The long-abandoned Mamak Eserkent Social Housing, unused for about 18 years, has been refurbished and made habitable. According to the municipality, applicants who qualify will be able to rent these units for a monthly fee of 100 TRY. A total of 400 one-bedroom (1+1) apartments have been renovated and will soon be rented to eligible low-income families, newlyweds, and seniors aged 65 and above.
The buildings had been unused for nearly two decades and showed significant wear. Interiors relied on materials from 18 years ago and had deteriorated. The municipality carried out a comprehensive renovation: kitchen cabinets, flooring, countertops, bathrooms, toilets, and living areas were fully updated, giving the units a modern, ready-to-live-in appearance. Natural gas connections were also installed, allowing residents to benefit from gas heating. With these improvements in place, applications are now being accepted for the renovated units.
Applications Now Open
Applications for these affordable social housing units are being accepted by the Municipality’s Special Projects and Transformation Department. A total of 400 apartments will be rented at a monthly rate of 100 TRY. Eligible applicants — low-income households, newly married couples, and people aged 65 and over — can apply in person at the Special Projects and Transformation Department desk located in the Metropolitan Municipality service building, A Block, Desk 18. Applications are also being received through the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality’s official website, where candidates can complete the required information via the application section.

Applicants must provide complete and accurate information. Applications that are filled out correctly will be accepted and later subject to a lottery drawn in the presence of a notary. The draw will determine the beneficiaries for the 400 one-bedroom apartments, each allocated with a monthly rent of 100 TRY.
What Are the Eligibility Requirements?
The Ankara social housing application requirements must be met by all applicants. Priority will be given to those most in need. Applicants’ monthly household income must not exceed 3,000 TRY, and if married, neither spouse may own real estate. Applicants must be citizens of the Republic of Turkey and must have been residing in Ankara for at least six months prior to the application date.

Priority will be given to low-income applicants, newly married couples, and applicants aged 65 and over. Qualified applicants who meet the conditions will be entered into the notarized lottery, which will determine the beneficiaries. Selected households will be allocated apartments at a monthly rent of 100 TRY. Applications remain open until January 15, 2021.
