Birth allowance application is a one-time social benefit provided by the state to mothers for each child born after May 15, 2015. This payment is made once and, after the application process is completed, can be collected through PTT. Birth allowance inquiry can be carried out easily via e-Government (e-Devlet).

What Is the Birth Allowance?

The birth allowance is a cash social benefit paid once to mothers for each live birth after May 15, 2015. It is provided by the Ministry of Family and Social Services. Regardless of employment status, any mother who meets the required conditions can apply.

Purpose: To provide financial support to mothers after childbirth and to help cover initial expenses.

Who Is Eligible for the Birth Allowance?

To receive the birth allowance, the following conditions must be met:

  • The birth must have occurred on or after May 15, 2015
  • The baby must be born alive
  • The mother or father must be a Turkish citizen or hold a Blue Card
  • The baby must be registered in the Identity Sharing System (KPS)

2025 Birth Allowance Amounts

Third and subsequent children 600 TL

Note: These payments are one-time and are collected at PTT branches.

How to Apply for the Birth Allowance

There is no need to handle paperwork in person; you can quickly apply through e-Government (e-Devlet).

Steps to Apply via e-Government:

  1. Log in to the e-Government portal.
  2. Type “Birth Allowance Application” into the search bar.
  3. Select the service and verify your identity.
  4. Complete the form and submit your application.

Alternative Application Methods:

If you cannot use e-Government, you can apply through one of the following institutions:

  • Provincial Directorates of Family and Social Services
  • Social Service Centers
  • Consulates for those living abroad
  • Your own public institution if you are a public employee

Documents Required for Application

No documents are required when applying via e-Government. For in-person applications, the following documents may be requested:

  • Birth certificate
  • Photocopies of the mother’s and baby’s identity cards
  • Bank account details
  • If the mother is employed, a social security service statement (SGK service record)

When Is the Birth Allowance Paid?

Once your application is recorded in the Birth Assistance System (DYS), payment is made at a PTT branch on the 25th of the following month.

Note: If e-Government shows “Application received,” the payment process has started.

How to Check the Birth Allowance Status

After applying, there are two ways to check whether the payment has been issued:

1. Via e-Government:

  • Log in to the e-Government portal.
  • Select the “Birth Allowance Application Result Inquiry” service.
  • You will see the payment status and which PTT branch holds the payment.

2. Via PTT:

  • Use the PTT Institutional Payments Inquiry service.
  • Enter your national ID number to view payment status and transfer details.
  • Alternatively, call the PTT call center for assistance.

How to Collect the Birth Allowance from PTT

  1. Visit the nearest PTT branch
  2. Present your identity card
  3. Tell the clerk “I want to collect my birth allowance payment
  4. Receive your payment in cash

Can Women Who Left Their Jobs Receive the Birth Allowance?

Yes. Employment is not a requirement to receive the birth allowance. However, for the SGK temporary incapacity payment known as “maternity report allowance,” the following conditions apply:

  • Contributions must have been paid for 90 days prior to birth
  • You must not have left your job before starting maternity leave
  • Your SGK registration must be active

Note: If you left your job before childbirth, you are only eligible for the birth allowance; SGK maternity payments will not be made.

Can Civil Servants Receive the Birth Allowance?

Yes. Civil servants are eligible for the birth allowance. Applications can be made via e-Government or by submitting a written request to the relevant institution.

Payment is transferred to the civil servant’s salary account.

Birth Allowance for Multiple Births

In cases of multiple births such as twins or triplets, the payment is made separately for each child. For example: twins = first child + second child → 300 TL + 400 TL = 700 TL

How can I check the birth allowance status?

My spouse is not insured, can I still apply?

Yes. If the citizenship requirement is met, the birth allowance can be received.

Is the maternity report allowance the same as the birth allowance?

No. The birth allowance is a one-time state grant, while the maternity report allowance is SGK’s temporary incapacity benefit.

Can someone who gave birth abroad receive the birth allowance?

Yes, applications can be made through consulates.
