Contracted Teacher Applications Open Today: How to Apply and Deadlines

Contracted teacher applications start today! The long-awaited process for contracted teacher appointments begins today. The Ministry of National Education has opened preliminary applications and preferences for oral exam centers for approximately 20,000 contracted teaching positions as of today. The application period that begins today will remain open until close of business on Friday, June 12, 2020.

Applications for contracted teaching positions must be submitted electronically. Candidates should apply through the designated portal at ilkatama.meb.gov.tr. The assignment of candidates to oral exam centers will be announced on Monday, June 22, 2020. Oral exams will take place between July 6 and July 25, and the results of the oral exams will be published on July 28, 2020. Following publication of results, appeals will be accepted between August 4 and August 7, 2020. The outcomes of appeal requests will be announced on August 10, 2020. Appointment preferences will be collected from August 28 to August 31, and final appointment results will be announced on September 1, 2020.

Appointments to Be Made in 60 Fields

Appointments will be made across 60 subject areas. According to information released by the Ministry, the minimum required score to apply is 50. The largest number of appointments will be in the classroom teaching branch. Additionally, of the 900 quotas reserved for the physical education branch, 90 seats will be allocated later for placements of national athletes. Below are some of the fields and the number of teachers to be appointed in each:

  • Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge: 1,801

  • Primary School Mathematics: 1,701
  • Preschool Teaching: 1,518
