The long-awaited reform for those affected by the retirement-age cutoff (EYT) is finally approaching final approval. Initially benefiting an estimated 2,250,000 people, the EYT regulation will be brought before the Grand National Assembly. After a two-week recess due to the earthquake, the Parliament resumes work on Tuesday, February 28, and its main agenda items have been set. With the parliamentary break ending, passage of the EYT regulation is expected. The critical date for millions of people directly affected by EYT has been recorded as Tuesday, February 28.
EYT Law Heads to Parliamentary Agenda
A crucial phase has begun for those who have long dreamed of retiring under the EYT provision. The amendment that will finally allow many citizens to retire after years of waiting will be debated in Parliament. The draft law proposing amendments to the Social Insurances and General Health Insurance Law and Decree-Law No. 375 will be voted on in the General Assembly. It is expected that the bill containing the EYT regulation will be approved in the same session and sent to President Erdoğan for signature.

Parliament resumes work after the compulsory pause caused by the earthquake. Following the recess, MPs will reconvene at 15:00 to discuss the EYT bill. After these developments, those following the issue closely have begun to search for how to apply for EYT retirement. Where and when will applications be submitted? How will citizens apply for EYT?
Have EYT Applications Started?
Interest is high in whether the EYT law, expected to initially benefit 2,250,000 citizens, has passed Parliament. The EYT draft law will be debated on the parliamentary agenda, and if no unexpected problems arise it is expected to be approved the same day. Once approved in Parliament, the law will be sent to President Erdoğan for signature. After the Presidential signature and publication in the Official Gazette, the EYT regulation will enter into force.

According to available information, the aim is to finalize the EYT law in March. Once the regulation is published in the Official Gazette, application procedures will be opened through the e-Government portal (e-Devlet). Citizens will be able to submit their retirement applications through the e-Devlet screens as soon as they are activated. Current reports indicate that there will be no time limits or deadlines imposed on submitting EYT applications.
