General Health Insurance (GSS), with its recent implementations, aims to provide health coverage for all citizens. For this reason, GSS ensures that every adult has access to health insurance services. Individuals who are 18 or older and still enrolled in education may benefit from health services under the same Social Security Institution (SGK) as their mother or father. Various circumstances can lead to GSS premium debts for those covered by the program. People with GSS premium debt often seek options such as GSS debt cancellation or installment payment plans. However, GSS premium debts are not eligible for installment arrangements. Debt cancellation is possible, but only for specific groups of people under defined conditions.
Who Is Eligible for GSS Debt Cancellation?
- Female students who have GSS premium debt despite being enrolled in school can apply for debt cancellation at the Social Security Institution by submitting their valid student documents.
- Male students who are still enrolled and have not yet turned 25 and who have GSS premium debt can apply to the SGK for debt cancellation by presenting their student documents.
- Individuals whose registered residence appears to be within the country while they were actually living abroad may qualify for GSS debt cancellation. In such cases, the period during which the system shows domestic residence will be evaluated when determining eligibility for debt cancellation.
