Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Hiring 100 Police Officers with Minimum High School Diploma

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality announced that it will hire a total of 100 municipal police officers (zabıta). Candidates who have at least a high school diploma may apply. Applications will close on January 10, 2021.

Requirements for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Municipal Police Recruitment

Candidates wishing to apply for the positions published by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey,
  • Not be deprived of public rights,
  • Not have been convicted of crimes listed in Article 53 of the Turkish Penal Code, including offenses against the constitutional order and its functioning, embezzlement, bribery, theft, fraud, forgery, abuse of trust, fraudulent bankruptcy, tampering with tenders, fraudulent performance of obligations, laundering property values derived from crime or smuggling—even if pardoned,
  • For male candidates, have no unresolved military status as of the application date; be exempt, discharged, or have military service deferred,
  • Have no health condition that would prevent continuous performance of the job,
  • Meet other application conditions announced for the advertised positions,
  • Have taken the 2020 KPSS Group B exam for high school, associate, or bachelor degree holders and meet the specified score requirements,
  • Meet minimum height requirements in measurement: at least 167 cm for men and at least 160 cm for women; the difference between height and weight must not exceed 10 kilograms,
  • Be under 30 years old as of the application date,
  • Not have been dismissed from public institutions for ethical or disciplinary reasons previously,
  • Not have resigned from a public institution within the last year.

Details of the positions to be filled are as follows:

  • Municipal Police (Zabıta), 40 positions: Graduates of any secondary education institution, minimum KPSS P94 score of 70,
  • Municipal Police (Zabıta), 20 positions: Graduates of associate degree programs in Local Administrations, Local Administration Municipal Police, or Local Governments, minimum KPSS P93 score of 70,
  • Municipal Police (Zabıta), 40 positions: Graduates of any bachelor’s degree program, minimum KPSS P3 score of 70.

Application Process for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Municipal Police Recruitment

Eligible candidates must submit their applications via the e-Government portal between January 4, 2021 and January 10, 2021. An e-Government (e-Devlet) password is required to apply online. Candidates who do not have an e-Government password can obtain one from the nearest PTT branch.

In addition to the online application, the following documents will be required at application submission:

  • Photocopy of the national ID card,
  • Document proving graduation,
  • 2020 KPSS result document showing the QR code,
  • For graduates of foreign schools, an equivalence certificate issued by the Ministry of National Education or the Higher Education Council,
  • For male candidates, a document indicating military service status,
  • A health report indicating the candidate is fit to perform the job continuously,
  • Original driver’s license,
  • One biometric photo taken within the last six months.

These documents must be sent to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Personnel Recruitment Department. Candidates who meet the requirements and qualifications will be invited to an oral exam. Candidates will be ranked by their KPSS scores; those invited to the exam will be up to five times the number of vacancies for each position. Before the exam, height and weight measurements will be conducted by the municipality. Candidates found not to meet the stated application requirements will be disqualified without being admitted to the exam. Legal action will be taken against applicants who make false declarations.

The exam will include questions on municipal police regulations, Atatürk’s principles and reforms, and current topics. Based on the exam results, lists of accepted and reserve candidates will be announced.
