Veterans to Receive a Second Pension! Our war veterans and service-disabled veterans now have the opportunity to receive a second pension. If they meet the required conditions, a second retirement payment will be granted. For service and war-disabled veterans, if they complete 5,000 insured workdays and reach 20 years of insured service, qualification for a second pension is being discussed. Through this arrangement, approximately 10,000 veterans could gain access to a second source of retirement income. Our government continues to work intensively on behalf of those who risked their lives for the homeland.
The government is mobilizing all available resources for veterans and service-disabled citizens. Specifically, service and war-disabled veterans who complete 5,000 days of insured work and meet 20 years of insured service will be eligible for a second retirement pension. The plan aims to provide a second pension to a total of around 10,000 veterans who meet these conditions.
What Are the Conditions for Granting a Second Pension to Veterans and Service-Disabled Citizens?
What are the conditions for awarding a second pension to veterans and service-disabled citizens? The criteria for monthly pension entitlement are being redefined for veterans and service-disabled citizens. Even when previously paid months are treated as if contributions were made, those who did not gain eligibility for a second monthly pension may be placed in public sector positions until they qualify. The General Director of SGK Retirement Services has made explanatory remarks on this topic.
There are six distinct disability grades that determine monthly pension amounts, and disability pension payments begin from the date of the report. The amount of the disability pension depends on the degree of disability of our veterans. From the month service begins, even if the individual is classified as service-disabled, pensions are calculated as if 30 years of service had been completed in certain cases. The six disability degrees vary between 15% and 60%. For example, a police officer with 20 years of service who is classified in the top degree could receive a pension of 6,737 TL, while in the sixth degree the pension could be 4,203 TL. Veterans who already meet the service-time requirements for a second retirement will have their pensions processed immediately; those who do not yet meet the required period may be employed in public institutions until they become eligible for retirement benefits.
