The e-Government (e-Devlet) platform has provided significant conveniences to citizens since its launch. Continuously updated, the system keeps adding new services that make public transactions faster and more efficient. By allowing users to complete procedures online, e-Government reduces time spent on bureaucracy and removes the need to wait in long queues at public offices. As long as there is internet access, citizens can use e-Government from anywhere.
Within the e-Government portal there are many services for retirees covered under Social Security Institution (SGK) categories 4/A, 4/B and 4/C. One of these services, Bank and Address Change, enables retirees to transfer their pension payments to their preferred bank quickly and securely. Retirees often wish to change the bank or branch where their pension is paid for various reasons. Performing these changes at a branch can lead to long waiting times, but the Bank and Address Change service available through e-Government makes the process simple and fast.
Who Can Use the Bank and Address Change Service?
The Bank and Address Change application allows persons affiliated with SGK under SSK, Bağ-Kur and the Pension Fund (Emekli Sandığı) to move their pension payments to a bank of their choice. Previously accessible only via SGK e-Services, this functionality is now available through the central e-Government portal as well. Retirees who receive a monthly pension through e-Government and are covered by SSK (4/A), Bağ-Kur (4/B) or Emekli Sandığı (4/C) can use the service to view and update their bank and branch information for pension payments. This eliminates the need to visit a bank in person: bank and branch changes can be completed online, saving citizens from long queues and bureaucratic delays.
How to Make a Bank or Address Change
The Bank and Address Change service within e-Government is designed to be quick and easy so users do not have to stand in long lines to move their pension payments to a preferred bank or branch.
To change the bank or bank branch, follow these steps:
- First, obtain an e-Government password from PTT and log in at www.turkiye.gov.tr.
- Then select the E-Services section.
- Open the page for Social Security Institution (SGK) services. At this point, choose the relevant category based on affiliation:
- SSK retirees should use the 4/A Services menu and select 4/A Bank and Address Change to proceed.
- Bağ-Kur retirees should use the 4/B Services menu and select 4/B Bank and Address Change to proceed.
- Pension Fund (Emekli Sandığı) retirees should use the 4/C Services menu and select 4/C Bank and Address Change to proceed.
Bank Change Promotions
Many banks offer promotions to attract pension accounts, providing cash bonuses, prize draws or gift vouchers when a retiree switches the bank where their pension is paid. If you plan to change banks based on promotional offers, review the terms carefully: banks often require specific conditions to qualify for promotions. Understand these requirements before accepting an offer to avoid unexpected obligations.
By following the steps outlined above, retirees can transfer their pension payments to the bank of their choice. There is a single key condition for the transfer: the person requesting the change must not have any outstanding loan obligations with their current pension-paying bank. Any account blocks or holds must also be removed before initiating the transfer. If there are no interfering conditions, the transfer typically completes within minutes, freeing the retiree from hours of waiting at the bank. After the transfer is processed, pension payments will be available from the newly selected bank starting with the next payment cycle.
