The Ministry of National Education announced the driving license exam dates for Motor Vehicle Driver Licenses. In 2016 the first exam was held on February 13, 2016, with the final registration deadline set as January 1, 2016. Throughout the year exams were scheduled roughly two months apart, so plan your preparation accordingly. The nearest Motor Vehicle Driver Trainees Exam is on December 10, 2016. Candidates must have completed registration by November 1 at the latest, and payments must be made between October 12 and November 15. In practice, applicants can register up to one month before the exam. Remember that you can only apply if you meet the age requirement by the final application date; otherwise your application will be invalid. Candidates must have at least a primary school education, and if you are a student you can apply with a valid student certificate from the school you are attending.
Applicants who want to take the exam on December 10 should first enroll in a driving school. You may also apply for courses and exams planned for 2017. Early registration for both the course and the exam is important to avoid filled quotas. According to the Motor Vehicle Driver Trainees Exam calendar, candidates who pay the fee within the required timeframe and successfully complete the theoretical training at the driving course can pay the 60 TL exam fee at the designated banks (Türkiye Vakıflar Bankası, Türkiye Halk Bankası, Ziraat Bankası) by entering their Turkish ID number. After payment, submit the payment receipt (or bank slip if no ATM receipt is issued) to the MTSK office to complete your exam registration. Double-check that your name and identity details are correct on the receipt and registration documents.
New Exam Dates for 2017
In 2015 and 2016 there were six written theoretical driving exams. In 2017 a total of five driving exams will be held. The Motor Vehicle Driver Trainees Exam dates for 2017 are scheduled as follows: February 11, May 20, July 29, October 7 and December 23, 2017, all on Saturdays. Exam start times were changed from 11:00 to 14:00 after late arrivals became a recurring issue for candidates. Official information about fees for these exams had not been released at the time of publication, but estimated costs are around 70 TL for the written exam and 80 TL for the practical driving test. Results for the written exam are typically published approximately 12 days after the test. The practical driving test is usually scheduled 15–25 days after written results are announced.
Electronic Driving Exam
After the theoretical test is completed, results are announced—this process generally takes 12 days. At centers where an electronic exam application is in place, you can take the test without waiting for the centrally scheduled dates set by the Ministry. The electronic system allows the test and results to be processed on the same day, reducing delays. After completing the computer-based exam, candidates only need to wait for their practical driving test appointment.
Electronic Exam Scheduling
The electronic driving exam operates on an appointment basis. Candidates reserve a time slot and take the exam without the delays associated with centralized scheduling. If a candidate fails their first electronic exam, they can only schedule a new attempt 15 days later. Keep in mind you should not postpone retaking the exam for too long: you lose one attempt and the total number of attempts allowed is limited to four. Plan your attempts and preparation so you make the most of the permitted exam opportunities.
