Application Requirements
In his statement about the appointments, Minister Mahmut Özer said, “Candidates who scored 50 or higher in the EKPSS exam held in 2020 or 2022 will be eligible to apply. Candidates with EKPSS scores from both years will have their higher score considered for the application.” He also added that all appointed teachers will begin their duties on September 1.
In addition to Özer’s remarks, AK Party Deputy Group Chairman Yılmaz Tunç commented on the broader appointment plans: “We reduced the number of students per classroom from around 40 to around 20 and lowered the number of students per teacher from 28 to 17. We increased the number of teachers from 526,000 to 1,120,000; and we are taking another step now: we will appoint 45,000 teachers, prioritized for earthquake-affected regions, on May 8.”

Özer noted that appointments will be made from 103 subject areas and shared the five fields that will receive the largest quotas: “Of the 45,000 teacher hires, 7,878 positions are allocated for classroom teachers, 3,604 for guidance counselors, 3,269 for preschool teachers, 2,656 for primary school mathematics, and 2,604 for religion and ethics.”

Applications for these appointments open on April 3 and will close at 16:00 on Friday, April 7. Preference submissions start five days later and will be accepted between April 12 and April 15.
