Check Social Security by Turkish ID on e-Devlet

You can quickly and easily check your insurance status for free through the e-Government (e-Devlet) system. If you are insured under any branch of the Social Security Institution (SSK, Bağ-Kur, or Emekli Sandığı), you can request a service statement through the corresponding insurance branch. The service statement shows recorded insurance premiums and taxes paid under that insurance branch.

The Social Security Institution manages many tasks related to workers’ rights and monitoring retirement status. Before SGK’s formation, insurance was handled by separate branches; after SGK was established, these branches were consolidated under a single roof and all service transactions were brought into the same system. Under SGK, insured persons are classified as 4A, 4B, or 4C contributors.

Where and how to check your insurance status is a common question. Insurance inquiries are made through the insurance branch to which you belong—4A, 4B, or 4C—each handled separately but accessible via the same portal. With these inquiries you can check many details relevant to retirement, including your insured days, total paid premiums, and insurance start dates.

E-Government Insurance Inquiry

Citizens insured under the Social Security Institution can view their insurance records by accessing the 4A service statement via the e-Government system.

Step-by-step, the insurance service statement inquiry proceeds as follows:

  • Open the e-Government website in your browser.
  • Use the identity verification section to log in with your national ID number and e-Government password.
  • If you do not have an e-Government password, you can obtain one from the nearest PTT branch.
  • After logging in, search for “Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu” (Social Security Institution) in the services area.
  • From the menu, click on the “4A Hizmet Dökümü” (4A Service Statement) section.
  • From that screen you can view all your insurance transactions and records.

If you prefer not to use e-Government, you can also get information via the SGK telephone line at ALO 170. Dial 170 from your phone and provide the requested identity information to the call center agent to receive details about your insurance status.

Where Can You Check Your Insurance Status?

Those registered with SGK must check their insurance status to manage retirement and other insurance-related procedures. Insurance status inquiries are conducted under the “4A Hizmet Dökümü” (4A Service Statement) title.

4A service statement inquiries are available via:

  • The e-Government system,
  • The ALO 170 hotline.

You can also visit the Social Security Institution in person to request information. These channels were developed to provide fast, practical information and reduce in-person congestion.

What Does “Insurance Status Active” Mean?

When a person starts working as an insured employee, their employer must register them with the Social Security Institution and make premium payments regularly and correctly. For insured persons, a status of “active” means that the employer has registered the employee under the applicable law and premiums are being paid on their behalf.

If premiums are paid, the insured person’s status appears as active in the system. Active status allows individuals to benefit from General Health Insurance services and demonstrates that premium days required for retirement are being contributed. You can verify whether your status is active via e-Government or by calling ALO 170.

What Does “Insurance Status Passive” Mean?

A passive insurance status can indicate retirees, those receiving disability pensions, or deceased individuals. It can also occur when an employer fails to register an employee with the SGK. Persons with passive status cannot access health services covered by General Health Insurance and their premium days are not recorded for retirement. If you encounter passive status in error, you should file a complaint with the relevant authorities.

How to File an Objection to Insurance Status

If your SGK records contain errors, missing information, or need updates, objections to insurance status are not handled through e-Government. Instead, you must contact your local Insurance Directorate. If the insurance institution does not resolve the issue, you may apply to the Insurance Arbitration Commission (Sigorta Tahkim Komisyonu).

If your claim is rejected by the insurance institution, you can submit an appeal to the Insurance Arbitration Commission within the stated timeframes. Appeals must follow the commission’s procedures: complete the application form on the commission’s page, pay the appeal fee to the relevant bank account, and deliver the signed original form and the payment receipt to the commission within the designated period. Late appeals are not accepted.

The appeal process requires a wet-signed application form. Appeals without the properly completed form are invalid. If the appellant is found justified, the matter will be decided by a three-member Appeals Panel within the legal two-month period. The panel’s decision will be communicated to the Insurance Arbitration Commission and the appellant as required.

Filing an appeal after obtaining clear information about “where and how to check your insurance status” is the appropriate procedure for correcting insurance record errors.
