President Erdoğan Announces 100,000 TL Cash Aid for Earthquake Victims’ Families

Following the devastating earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş that caused severe damage across ten provinces and a significant loss of life, recovery and relief efforts in the region continue. Numerous civil society organizations and institutions, led by AFAD, the Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) and AHBAP, remain active to meet the urgent needs of survivors.

After the Cabinet meeting, President Erdoğan made a significant announcement regarding financial assistance for the relatives of those who lost their lives in the earthquake. It was declared that an emergency cash grant of 100,000 Turkish Lira will be provided to eligible family members.

100,000 TL CASH ASSISTANCE TO BE PROVIDED

The two major earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş caused extensive destruction in provinces including Hatay, Kilis, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Osmaniye, Adana, Malatya and Diyarbakır. In the wake of the high number of fatalities, assistance for relatives of the deceased began immediately.

The Presidential Cabinet, chaired by President Erdoğan, held its meeting at the headquarters of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD). Following the meeting, President Erdoğan announced that an immediate cash grant of 100,000 TL will be provided to the families of those who died in the earthquake to cover urgent needs.

MULTIPLE CASH SUPPORT MEASURES FOR SURVIVORS

According to President Erdoğan’s statements, initial financial supports include 15,000 TL per household for relocation costs for homes rendered uninhabitable, and rent assistance ranging between 2,000 TL and 5,000 TL. Earlier announcements also included a 10,000 TL household support payment in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake.

President Erdoğan reiterated that the 100,000 TL cash assistance is intended to meet urgent needs and that additional support measures will continue. He emphasized that the state and the public will work together to ensure no affected person is left unaided.

WHO WILL RECEIVE THE 100,000 TL CASH SUPPORT?

The 100,000 TL cash support is designated for the immediate needs of relatives of those who died in the earthquake. Authorities indicated that further assistance for affected citizens will be provided as needed. The exact timeline for disbursement has not yet been finalized; more detailed information is expected in the coming days.
