The Ministry of National Defense has published a new recruitment announcement for 16,000 contracted privates/soldiers for 2023. The Ministry is hiring military personnel with at least primary school education. Having already accepted applications for the 2023/1 contracted private recruitment, this new announcement represents a second term intake. According to the announcement, contracted military personnel will be recruited to address personnel shortfalls within the Air Force Command, which operates under the Ministry.
What Are the Application Requirements for Contracted Privates and How to Apply?
On February 24, 2023, the Air Force Command published a guide announcing recruitment to fill its vacancies. The announcement states that, in addition to general requirements, certain special conditions apply. The general requirements are as follows:
- Be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey
- Have no health condition that would prevent performing the assigned duties
- Obtain a favorable outcome from security and archive investigations
- Not be deprived of public rights
- Not be a member of any political party
- Not be a member of a terrorist organization and not have been a member
- Have no legal impediment that would prevent carrying a weapon or performing armed duties
- Meet the qualifications specified by the Turkish Armed Forces, Gendarmerie, and Coast Guard
The special conditions mainly concern age, height and weight, and include the following:
- Be a graduate of at least primary school or an equivalent primary education abroad
- For those who have completed military service as non-commissioned officers or privates: not have reached the age of 25 as of January 1 of the application year, based on the uncorrected population register (born after January 1, 1998)
- For those who have not started or not completed military service: have reached the age of 20 but not have reached 25 as of January 1, 2023, based on the uncorrected population register (born between January 1, 1998 and December 31, 2003)
- Not have been dismissed from military schools or the Turkish Armed Forces for any reason
- Candidates applying while serving in the military must have completed at least three months of service and obtained a Qualification Certificate (Annex-2) from unit commands
Candidates must fall within the height and weight standards shown in the table (Annex-3). For contracted private candidates, the permissible upper weight limit may be up to 10 kg above the table’s upper limit.
