The Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) has continued working on the country’s employment challenges since its founding. Recently, the institution has been particularly prominent for its incentives aimed at reducing youth unemployment. With numerous ongoing employment programs, İŞKUR remains one of the primary places people turn to when searching for work. Beyond services such as youth employment initiatives, on-the-job training and internships, İŞKUR has also gained attention for the employment opportunities it creates for people with disabilities and ex-convicts. Thanks to efforts by youth organizations, foundations and state-led projects in recent years, the everyday problems faced by people with disabilities have received greater visibility and accelerated efforts to find solutions. As part of this, İŞKUR continues to develop projects specifically targeting the employment needs of disabled individuals. In this article, we examine İŞKUR’s Disabled Personnel Recruitment and Disability Registration processes.
İŞKUR and Recruitment of People with Disabilities
The Turkish Employment Agency is one of the most active institutions in Turkey in terms of employment initiatives. Through annual incentive programs, İŞKUR helps place hundreds of people into jobs every year. Since 2016, İŞKUR’s disability projects and related incentives have encouraged many employers to hire disabled personnel, playing a significant role in increasing disabled employment. According to announcements published on its official website, fines collected from employers who do not employ disabled persons or ex-convicts are allocated to support vocational training and rehabilitation programs for disabled people, to help workplaces adapt to their needs, and to fund projects that enable disabled individuals to start their own businesses. The aim of these supports is to facilitate employment for disabled persons and ex-convicts and to encourage their full, barrier-free participation in society. İŞKUR has indicated that it will continue to support similar projects in the coming years. By partnering with non-governmental organizations, universities, and public and private institutions, İŞKUR has raised awareness and helped many disabled individuals gain employment.
Use of İŞKUR services by people with disabilities has steadily increased, and the variety of employment opportunities has expanded. By following the “Announcements” section on İŞKUR’s official website, disabled job seekers can find vacancies in many fields. Both public institutions and private companies, encouraged by incentives, have opened positions specifically for disabled employees. To apply for these vacancies and benefit from İŞKUR’s programs for people with disabilities, you must first register with İŞKUR. Follow the instructions in the section below to complete your registration.
How to Register as a Disabled Person with İŞKUR
To benefit from İŞKUR’s employment services, you must first register in the system. After completing registration, İŞKUR will work to match you with suitable job opportunities based on the information and experience you provide. It is important that the details entered during registration are accurate and complete, as they are vital during the employment placement process. İŞKUR requires individuals with disabilities to document their condition in order to access disability-focused services. This includes those who, from birth or later in life, have lost various physical, mental, social or psychological capacities to an extent that hinders daily living, makes it difficult to meet personal needs, or requires protection, care, rehabilitation, counseling or support services. Specifically, applicants must provide medical documentation showing they have lost at least 40% of relevant body functions. During registration, applicants who select the “Disability Registration” option must submit their health reports to İŞKUR; otherwise, their applications will be treated as those of non-disabled applicants. Individuals whose disability status begins or changes after initial registration should update their İŞKUR records and submit the necessary documents as soon as possible. Follow the registration link provided below to begin the process.
