In 1965, following a proposal submitted to the Ministry of Health, work began on establishing a hospital. In 1969, Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital started serving the public. Initially opened in 1970 as a 100-bed hospital for tropical diseases, the facility was converted into a general state hospital in 1985. In 2000, when Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Erşan Aygün assumed responsibilities for education and research, the hospital was officially designated as a Training and Research Hospital.
