The facility began serving as a dispensary in 1966 and was later expanded and converted into a hospital. After a brief period operating again as a dispensary, the construction of a four-story building allowed it to resume hospital services. In 1980, it was named SSK Istanbul Occupational Diseases and Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Center. It was restored in 1993–1994 and became SSK Kartal Hospital. From 2004 onward various outpatient clinics were opened, and since June 2005 it has been operating under the name Kartal Yavuz Selim State Hospital.
