Breaking News: Limited Curfew to Be Enforced During LGS and YKS Exam Hours

According to a recent announcement by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, limited curfew measures will be implemented during the hours of the LGS and YKS exams. The decision, based on recommendations from the Scientific Committee, aims to prevent crowding during students’ travel to and from exam venues and to dedicate those hours to young people. The instruction to enforce a targeted curfew during exam times was issued by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

In his statement on social media, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca specified that the LGS exam is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2020, while the YKS exams will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 27–28, 2020. He confirmed that, following the President’s directive and the Scientific Committee’s guidance, a limited curfew will be applied during exam periods to minimize public movement and reduce the risk of crowded streets at arrival and departure times.

Health Minister Announces Curfew During Exam Hours

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced that a limited curfew will be enforced during the hours of the LGS and YKS exams. This measure is intended to prevent congestion around exam locations and to ensure the safety and focus of students on those days. The announcement was posted on the Minister’s official social media account and reflects coordination between the Ministry and the Scientific Committee.

Koca emphasized that the Scientific Committee recommended special precautions for the days of the exams, particularly for the times when students are traveling to and from exam centers. To follow those recommendations and ensure orderly conduct during these critical hours, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan directed authorities to apply a limited curfew in the relevant time windows.

The Minister further explained that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the secure and orderly administration of both exams. Guidance documents have been issued and relevant agencies were reminded of the precautions they must implement. Koca noted that the Scientific Committee specifically advised taking steps to facilitate safe arrival and departure at exam centers, including, if necessary, applying a curfew during those exact hours to reduce public movement and potential crowding.
