Breaking: Unemployment and Short-Time Work Payments Start Today

Breaking news: Unemployment and short-time work payments have started today. The Minister of Family, Labour and Social Services, Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, announced that payments for unemployment benefits and short-time work allowances have been brought forward and would begin to be paid as of Monday, June 29, 2020. Following the minister’s statement, these payments have started to be transferred to beneficiaries’ accounts today.

In her announcement, Minister Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk said that the June 2020 payments for short-time work allowances and unemployment benefits were accelerated and that disbursements would begin reaching accounts on Monday, June 29, 2020. As of today, those payments are being sent to recipients’ accounts.

Short-Time Work and Unemployment Payments Have Begun

The Ministry confirmed that, due to the coronavirus pandemic, payments originally scheduled for July 5, 2020 for June 2020 short-time work and unemployment benefits were moved ahead. Minister Selçuk stated that transfers began on Monday, June 29, 2020, and beneficiaries are now receiving these support payments.

The minister explained that payments for June 2020 would be carried out between June 29 and July 3, 2020. Beneficiaries who have provided IBAN details will receive the funds directly into their bank accounts, while those without IBAN information will have payments sent to PTT branches in their name. The scheduled dates for account transfers are as follows.

  • Those whose Turkish ID number ends with 0: Monday, June 29, 2020,
  • Those whose Turkish ID number ends with 2: Tuesday, June 30, 2020,
  • Those whose Turkish ID number ends with 4: Wednesday, July 1, 2020,
  • Those whose Turkish ID number ends with 6: Thursday, July 2, 2020,
  • Those whose Turkish ID number ends with 8: Friday, July 3, 2020,
