10,000 Women Offered Job Opportunities! A new initiative will enable 10,000 women to sell 43 tourism products worldwide. As part of a project in the tourism sector, these women will market a range of travel services and products globally. Organized by TURSAS, the “Ticketing Women” project empowers participants to sell everything from airline tickets and travel packages to travel insurance and hotel rooms. This represents a significant step toward increasing female employment in the sector. The Tourism and Travel Agencies Employers’ Union (TURSAS) coordinates the program, which creates job opportunities for 10,000 women. Under the “Ticketing Women” initiative, the women employed will promote 43 different tourism products—from airline tickets and tours to travel insurance and hotel accommodations—on international markets.
Turnkey Workspaces Will Be Provided!
Turnkey workspaces will be provided. TURSAS President Yılmaz Sönmez explained that currently only one country is performing a similar operation at scale: the Netherlands. He noted that the Netherlands employs 60,000 women who sell tickets and hotel stays to customers—without leaving their country—for journeys from an African country to China, for example. According to Sönmez, the Netherlands captures about $110 billion of the global tourism market this way from a $3 trillion industry. The “Ticketing Women” offices will operate as travel agencies and will be able to offer traveling customers all 43 products. The president said they aim to claim a 5% share of the tourism market.
President Sönmez added that the project needs broad support. He said they are encouraging firms within their network to employ people independently of the “Ticketing Women” program. He emphasized that the working conditions and the structure for establishing these businesses qualify for support from KOSGEB and İŞKUR. For those who want to become business owners, the project creates tourism offices without requiring any payment. They deliver turnkey workspaces without requesting any capital from beneficiaries.
