Anadolu Foundation Scholarship Application for 2021 is conducted online. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was decided that interviews would not be held for scholarships awarded in the 2020–2021 academic year. Applicants for arts and sports scholarships are selected through special talent exams.

Who Is Eligible to Apply for the Anadolu Foundation Scholarship?

The following categories describe who can benefit from the Anadolu Foundation scholarship:

  • Students registered as full-time undergraduates at state universities in Turkey may apply.
  • At this time, scholarships are not provided for those pursuing master’s degrees.
  • Students studying at foreign institutions are not eligible for these scholarships.

What Are the Requirements to Apply?

Application requirements for the Anadolu Foundation scholarship include:

  • The scholarship is offered to Turkish citizens.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • The scholarship covers students admitted to programs at state universities; however, those enrolled in open education or distance education programs are not eligible.
  • Receiving another scholarship from a different institution does not automatically disqualify an applicant from receiving the Anadolu Foundation scholarship.

What Types of Scholarships Does the Anadolu Foundation Offer?

The Anadolu Foundation awards several types of scholarships:

  • General merit scholarships: Awarded to academically successful students who meet the Scholarship Committee’s criteria. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and be full-time students.
  • Anadolu scholarship: Aimed at supporting students from various provinces within the Foundation’s mission. Candidates are selected based on academic ranking and financial need, within available quotas.
  • Scholarships for students with disabilities: Provided to students from all disability groups who demonstrate academic success and financial need.

How Are Anadolu Foundation Scholarship Applications Submitted?

Applications are submitted through the Foundation’s online form page. When the application period is open, a form is made available on the Foundation’s website and applicants must complete it. If the application window is closed, the site indicates the application dates and directs prospective applicants to apply during the specified period.

What Were the 2021 Application Dates?

For the 2020–2021 academic year, Anadolu Foundation scholarship applications were accepted between September 1 and September 30.

How Can Applicants Check Their Scholarship Results?

Applicants can check results by following these steps:

  • Visit the Anadolu Foundation website.
  • Select the “Application Results” option from the main menu.
  • Enter your Turkish ID number in the field provided and click the inquiry button to view the outcome.

What Should Recipients Know About Scholarship Payments?

Key points about scholarship payments from the Anadolu Foundation:

  • Recipients must open a Turkish lira bank account in their own name to receive payments.
  • Scholarship payments are made monthly during nine months of the academic year, from October through June.
  • Because results can be announced as late as mid-December, first payments for newly selected students typically begin in January. Payments for October through December are not paid in that initial award year. If the scholarship continues into the second year, payments resume starting in October of that year.

What Documents Are Required for the Application?

Applicants selected for candidacy must submit documents to the Anadolu Foundation. Required documents typically include:

  • Copy of ID card,
  • Extract from the population registry,
  • Proof of residence,
  • Criminal record certificate from the public prosecutor,
  • Income documentation: separate pay slips for working parents; tax certificates for self-employed parents; pension documents for retirees; a certified document from the local headman (muhtar) for farmers if exemption applies,
  • Rental agreement if the family home is rented,
  • Student registration or enrollment certificate,
  • Documentation of any outstanding loans,
  • Health board report for a disabled or seriously ill parent, if applicable,
  • Bank book copy for an account opened at the specified bank for scholarship payments.

Documents are sent by mail and compared with the information provided during the online application. Following verification, applicants are informed of the final decision.

What Are the Conditions for Scholarship Continuation?

Recipients of Anadolu Foundation scholarships must meet certain obligations to maintain funding. These conditions include:

  • Scholarships are paid for the standard duration of the academic program. If a student’s study period is extended due to family or health reasons, they may apply to the Foundation for an extension; the Foundation may continue payments if a valid reason is established.
  • Continuation requires submission of semester or annual transcripts to the Foundation. Scholarships are discontinued for students with a year-end GPA below 2.00.
  • If a recipient suspends enrollment, they must notify the Foundation and pause scholarship payments. This preserves the student’s rights so that payments can resume for the remaining study period once enrollment continues.
  • If a recipient changes university or program, continuation of the scholarship will be determined after reassessment by the Foundation.
  • Providing false information during the application process will result in termination of the scholarship if discovered at any time.
  • Disciplinary sanctions imposed by the university may lead to cancellation of the scholarship.
  • Students participating in exchange programs such as Erasmus must inform the Foundation; scholarships may continue during approved exchange periods.
