In 2020, KYK loan applications can be submitted through the KYK website and via the e-Government (e-Devlet) system. The KYK student loan is a repayable loan provided only during the student’s registered period of study. If the standard study period ends, the loan is stopped even if the student continues to attend classes.
Repayment of the student loan begins two years after the loan is cut off. Borrowers can repay in full or in installments. A discount is applied to those who repay the loan in a single payment. Loan balances and repayment schedules can be monitored through the Ziraat Bank application.

The main difference is that the KYK scholarship is non-repayable, while the KYK loan must be repaid.

Priority for KYK scholarships is given to the following categories of applicants:
- Children of martyrs and veterans receive priority.

How to Check KYK Loan Details on e-Government?
Successful applicants can access full details about their student loans through the e-Government system. After logging in and verifying identity, search for the Ministry of Youth and Sports. From the available services, select the “Student/Contribution Loan and Scholarship Inquiry” option. The page displays loan/scholarship type, education type, loan/scholarship number, and a details button. Clicking the details button shows the loan start date, the date repayment is due to begin, and monthly payment history.
How to Check KYK Loan Application Results?
Applicants can check whether they have been awarded a KYK loan by visiting the KYK results page where results are published. You can view results after verifying your identity on that page. Login options include using an e-Government password and Turkish ID number or entering identity details such as ID number and serial number, or ID number, volume number, family order number, and sequence number to verify identity. If using the e-Government password, obtain it from PTT branches.
How Much Is the KYK Loan?
Loan amounts vary by level of study and were as follows in 2020:
- Bachelor’s degree students received a monthly loan of 550 TL.
- Master’s degree students received a monthly loan of 1,100 TL.
- Doctoral students received a monthly loan of 1,600 TL.
For How Long Is the KYK Loan Provided?
KYK loans are granted for the standard duration of the study program. For example, associate degree students receive loans for two years, and bachelor’s students receive loans for four years. Allowances are stopped once the standard study period is exceeded.
Under What Circumstances Is a KYK Loan Stopped?
The following situations result in the termination of KYK loans and scholarships:
- If a student dies, their loan or scholarship is terminated and is not transferred to heirs.
- Loans are stopped for students who extend their studies beyond the standard period; they cannot receive KYK loan payments during the extended period.
- There is no grade point average requirement for continuing to receive a KYK loan, so students with low GPAs can still receive the loan. However, KYK scholarships are suspended if the GPA falls below 2.00 on a 4.00 scale (below 53.33 on a 100-point scale).
- Students who are expelled from school for disciplinary reasons lose their loan and scholarship rights.
- Students who do not register for two consecutive terms at their institution will have KYK loans discontinued.
- Students repeating the preparatory year lose scholarship payments immediately. Loan recipients who repeat the preparatory year do not receive loan payments for that repeated year because their standard study period is extended by one year.
- Working students may still receive KYK loans; employment does not automatically suspend loan payments. Since 2015, students earning the minimum wage can retain their scholarships as well.
