Institutions offering non-repayable scholarships and loans to students in 2021 include the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK), Yücel Kültür Foundation, Sevda Cenab And Music Foundation, and the Turkish Education Association (TED). Organizations that provide non-repayable scholarships and loans to students offer financial support—via online or in-person applications—to help cover education expenses. Scholarships are generally awarded based on academic success.
Loans, however, may be available to undergraduate students without strict success criteria. In 2021, students receiving or intending to receive language or music education, as well as those in undergraduate, associate, high school and middle school programs, could apply for scholarships. Scholarship funds are not required to be repaid to the institutions.
What is the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) Scholarship?
The KYK scholarship is awarded to associate and undergraduate students who rank in the top 100 in the ÖSYM exam and to amateur national athletes. KYK scholarships are granted without requiring repayment. When deciding on recipients, the selection considers both ÖSYM exam performance and the financial situation of the student’s family. Students who live away from their family and demonstrate financial need are prioritized along with academic achievement.
What is the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) Loan?
The KYK loan is a financial support given to associate and undergraduate students during their studies that does not require immediate repayment while the student is enrolled. It should be noted that no institution gives truly “free” loans that never require repayment; in Turkey, institutions that provide student support generally offer scholarships without repayment. Loans provided by KYK are repaid after the completion of the undergraduate program.
How Much Are KYK Scholarship and Loan Payments?
The amounts of KYK scholarship and loan payments are set so that undergraduate students receive at least 500 TL per month during the academic year. Throughout a typical four-year faculty program, students receive a monthly payment of at least 500 TL while they remain eligible.
