Istanbul Governor Announces Measures for the Curfew! Governor Ali Yerlikaya of Istanbul has issued a statement detailing the measures taken for the two-day curfew. What measures will be applied in Istanbul during the curfew? Governor Yerlikaya announced each measure one by one. As with last week, Governor Ali Yerlikaya shared measures via his Twitter account regarding the two-day curfew imposed this week as part of the coronavirus outbreak. The 48-hour curfew will begin tonight at 00:01 and continue until Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 00:01. Governor Yerlikaya made the following statements on his Twitter account.

Governor Yerlikaya used his Twitter account to explain the precautions to be taken for the weekend curfew during the coronavirus outbreak. He shared details about the measures on Twitter.

  • Due to the coronavirus, as of Friday, April 17, 2020 at 23:59, entry to and exit from Istanbul by sea and navigation inside provincial borders with private boats are prohibited for the duration of the outbreak.
  • Domestic commercial cargo and passenger transport and international freight carriers will be allowed to transit through the province. However, they are strictly prohibited from stopping or staying overnight except for mandatory needs breaks.
  • Fishing boats coming into Istanbul from outside the province for commercial activities must present their transport documents. Crew members are strictly prohibited from disembarking or entering the port area.

Vessels under 20 meters entering from the northern section of the Bosphorus will be checked by the Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services Center, affiliated with the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, and any relevant findings will be reported to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
