Open Education Faculty Exams: Dates, Registration & Preparation Tips

Anadolu University’s Open Education System holds an important place in the country’s higher education landscape, serving nearly 1 million current students and around 2 million graduates. As a modern open education model, the system adapts quickly to emerging needs and aims to maintain high standards of education while enabling many people to improve themselves. Over time it has implemented numerous innovations that have strengthened its standing both nationally and internationally.

The open education system provides a flexible alternative for students who cannot attend formal on-campus programs due to work, health, or other constraints. It also offers inclusive opportunities for individuals with physical, hearing, or visual impairments and supports inmates completing their sentences by enabling them to continue their education.

As of the 2015–2016 academic year, Anadolu University had completed the 33rd year of its Open Education System and offered 17 undergraduate and 34 associate degree programs. In previous years, the university also launched programs that served students in Western Europe, including Bulgaria. These programs allow students to register for the department they choose, continue their studies, and take faculty exams through the Open Education Faculty to earn their course credits.

How Are Open Education Exams Conducted?

Newly registered and re-registered students at Anadolu University’s Open Education Faculty take exams during the Fall and Spring semesters. Each semester includes one midterm and one final exam, so students sit for a total of four exams per academic year.

Saturday

09:30 Morning (1st Session)
14:00 Afternoon (3rd Session)

Sunday

09:30 Morning (2nd Session)
14:00 Afternoon (4th Session)

Exams are held across four sessions on Saturday and Sunday, with morning sessions at 09:30 and afternoon sessions at 14:00. Students attend the exam at the center they selected when registering. One week before the exam, an exam entrance document is published detailing the exam building, room, date, and time. On exam day students receive two documents: the question booklet and the answer sheet. Exams are prepared as multiple-choice tests with five options per question. These exams, designed to assess student achievement, are organized and administered by Anadolu University in Eskişehir.

Evaluation of Exams

The evaluation and course passing procedures for Open Education Faculty exams follow the regulations of Anadolu University’s Open Education, Economics and Business Faculties Education–Instruction and Examination directives, and the exam application procedures issued under their authority. Multiple-choice exams are graded electronically using optical forms and computer systems. Recording, storing, transferring grades into student records, and notifying students are all managed through information technology systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
