Record Donations Reached for Earthquake Victims: 115.1 Billion Lira Raised

After the devastating earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş that caused heavy loss of life across many provinces, a nationwide fundraising broadcast held last night raised a total of 115.1 billion Turkish lira. The disaster, which affected 11 provinces and caused extensive human and material losses, mobilized the whole country to help heal the region’s wounds.

During the joint live broadcast carried by multiple channels, the donations reached 115.1 billion lira, and more than 9 million SMS donations were recorded. Contributions from inside Turkey and from abroad will accelerate relief efforts and support recovery in the affected areas.

JOINT BROADCAST RAISES 115.1 BILLION LIRA

Following the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake that impacted 11 provinces, a coordinated live broadcast was carried by 213 television channels and 562 radio stations both domestically and internationally, including TRT, ATV, Fox, Kanal D, Kanal 7, Show TV, Star TV and TV8.

The program featured many figures from business, the arts, politics and sports, and well-known personalities helped collect donations. Thanks to contributions from across Turkey and from abroad, the total amount raised reached 115.1 billion lira. Authorities confirmed that these funds will be used solely for earthquake relief and recovery efforts.

MORE THAN 9 MILLION SMS DONATIONS SENT

During the joint broadcast, donations were also accepted via SMS for AFAD and the Turkish Red Crescent. Each SMS carried a 50 TL contribution, and a total of 9,010,000 SMS messages were sent. Large corporate donations during the fundraising night drew particular attention.

DONATIONS POURED INTO THE “TURKEY UNITED” CAMPAIGN

The “Turkey United” campaign received support from many segments both domestically and abroad. People are curious about who donated and in what amounts. Some of the largest reported contributions to the Turkey United campaign include the following:

  • Vakıfbank: 12 billion TL
  • Ziraat Bankası: 20 billion TL
  • Halkbank: 7 billion TL
  • Zrve Holding, on behalf of Turkuvaz Media Group: 700 million TL
  • Türkiye Sigorta and Türkiye Hayat Emeklilik: 2 billion TL
  • Borsa İstanbul: 2 billion TL
  • Türk Telekom: 2 billion TL
