The Pension Fund (Emekli Sandığı) was established in 1950 under the Ministry of Finance to provide social security for civil servants of the Republic of Turkey. The Pension Fund was originally an institution that concerned only government employees. However, with the 2006 amendment (Social Security Institution Law No. 5502), it was transferred from the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. In other words, the Pension Fund became part of the Social Security Institution (SGK), serving to cover disability, old-age and survivor insurance for personnel with civil servant status. There are specific age and service requirements for those retiring under the Pension Fund. Typically, women become eligible after completing 20 years of service, and men after 25 years of service. There are two ways to check your Pension Fund service details. The first method is through the SGK website. The second is via the e-Government (E-Devlet) portal. The SGK 4C service inquiry can be completed without a password, which makes it simpler than the e-Government method. For the e-Government option, you will need an e-Government password. In our digital age, the e-Government password is a personal code that lets you access many online public services. You can obtain an e-Government password in person at nearby PTT branches by presenting your identification. There is a small fee for obtaining the password (currently 2 TL).
