After two major earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, ten provinces suffered extensive destruction. Recorded as one of the largest earthquake disasters in the history of the Republic, the catastrophe mobilized all state institutions as well as numerous non-governmental organizations and volunteers.
The Social Security Institution (SGK) announced a new decision following the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes. It was declared that payment deadlines for SGK premium debts of those located in the affected area, and deadlines for submitting required documents, information and declarations to the institution, have been postponed.

PRIME CONTRIBUTION PAYMENTS POSTPONED
Following the earthquakes that caused significant loss of life and widespread damage across Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Adıyaman, Malatya, Diyarbakır, Şanlıurfa, Kilis, Osmaniye, Gaziantep and Adana, support has continued to arrive from many institutions. As the whole country mobilizes to respond, SGK announced additional relief measures for people in the affected regions.

It was stated that, from the date of the earthquake, deadlines for workplaces operating in the ten provinces and for insured persons who work or reside in those provinces were postponed for the period between February 6 and July 31, 2023. Existing premium debts whose payment periods expired before February 6, and premium debts for January through June 2023, have been deferred until August 31, 2023 without late payment penalties or interest.
DEADLINES FOR SUBMITTING INFORMATION, DOCUMENTS AND DECLARATIONS POSTPONED
According to the SGK announcement, in addition to postponing payment deadlines for premium debts in all regions affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake, the institution has also extended the deadlines for submitting required information, documents and declarations.

A state of force majeure has been declared for the listed provinces, and it was announced that deadlines for SGK payments and document submissions have been extended. Pursuant to the relevant provisions of Law No. 5510, deferrals were applied to premium debts and to the periods for submitting information, documents and declarations. As recovery from the disaster continues, SGK and other state institutions are issuing similar announcements to support affected citizens.
