Turkish Armed Forces Officer Recruitment — Applications Open Now

The General Directorate of Personnel at the Ministry of National Defense has announced an officer recruitment for service within the Turkish Armed Forces. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria must submit their applications by December 11, 2020.

What Are the Requirements to Become an Officer in the Turkish Armed Forces?

Candidates wishing to serve as officers in the Turkish Armed Forces must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey,
  • Not be deprived of public rights in any way,
  • Not have been convicted of crimes defined in Article 53 of the Turkish Penal Code including acts against state security, crimes against the constitutional order and its functioning, embezzlement, bribery, theft, fraud, forgery, abuse of trust, fraudulent bankruptcy, rigging tenders or performance of contracts, laundering proceeds of crime, or smuggling—even if pardoned,
  • Not have been expelled from civilian or military schools for any reason,
  • Not have been dismissed from the Turkish Armed Forces for any reason,
  • Have a favorable result in the required security and archive investigations,
  • Not cohabit without marriage with any man or woman,
  • Have a minimum score of 65 in the P3 category of the 2018 or 2020 Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS),
  • Not have a decision stating they cannot serve as reserve officer or noncommissioned officer,
  • Not have acted in coordination with, aided, used public resources for, or promoted organizations recognized as terrorist groups,
  • Not be linked to, a member of, or in contact with structures, formations, or groups that pose a national security threat,
  • The medical report obtained from the referred hospital must meet the required health criteria,
  • Medical report procedures must be completed and submitted to the Ministry’s Personnel Procurement Directorate within 30 days from the hospital referral date. Medical reports submitted after this period will not be evaluated. Candidates are responsible for delays caused by postal or similar reasons,
  • Not currently have an active separation from the Turkish Armed Forces due to prior service as an officer, noncommissioned officer, military student, or specialist noncommissioned officer; not be under contract; and not have taken an oath in a way that disqualifies eligibility,
  • Be successful in the examination administered by the Ministry of National Defense,
  • Be listed as eligible to become an active-duty officer in the relevant classification,
  • Have no medical condition that prevents carrying a weapon.

Applicants who meet these conditions can apply by the application deadline.

How to Apply for Officer Recruitment in the Turkish Armed Forces

Applicants must follow these steps to submit an application:

  • Applications must be submitted via the Ministry of National Defense Personnel Recruitment page. Applications submitted by any other means will not be considered.
  • Applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree must be no older than 27, and those who have completed graduate education must be no older than 32 at the time of application.
  • To apply, candidates must log in to the system using their e-Devlet (e-Government) password. After logging in, all required information must be entered accurately and completely. Applications with missing or incorrect information will not be evaluated.
  • After entering the information, candidates must select the “make preferences” option to finalize their application.
  • When applying, candidates must choose a branch that corresponds to the program of the school from which they graduated.
  • If an applicant’s address changes after submitting the application, they must notify the Ministry of National Defense in writing of the updated address.

After meeting the application criteria, candidates will be scheduled for a physical fitness test and an interview at a later date to be announced. Dates for the physical fitness test and interviews will be announced to accepted applicants via the official Personnel Recruitment website of the Ministry of National Defense.
