The long-awaited EYT law has been enacted. After the law’s passage, many people are asking when the first pension payments will begin. With this regulation, an estimated 5 million people are expected to retire, and individuals will be able to retire regardless of age. The EYT Law, accepted as of March 1, will come into force once it is published in the Official Gazette.
Individuals will be able to apply for EYT after the publication in the Official Gazette. Those who submit an retirement application form are expected to begin receiving their pension at the beginning of the month following the date they filed the application. A person who meets the conditions and submits their application during March is expected to start receiving a retirement pension as of April 1, 2023.
How to Apply for EYT
According to Minister Bilgin’s statement, EYT applications will be made through the e-Government (e-Devlet) portal. After logging in with your Turkish ID number and password, click the ‘income, monthly allowance request document’ section, then in the application tab select ‘Type of allocation request’ and choose ‘old-age pension’.
Employees covered by SSK who will benefit from EYT should apply under the ‘4A’ category, while self-employed Bağ-Kur contributors should use the ‘4B’ option. Make sure to select the correct category when submitting your application.
In the final step, click the Apply button, choose the bank that will pay your pension, and specify the branch. Complete your contact information accurately and answer the questions shown on the inquiry screen. After submission, your details will be recorded and your application will be sent to the system.

When Will EYT Pensions Be Paid? Minister’s Statement
Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Bilgin answered the question about when EYT recipients will receive their pensions. He said: “The legal process begins that way. After publication in the Official Gazette, payments for the first month will be made at the beginning of the month according to applications. There is no need to panic. Citizens can apply via e-Government; I don’t expect them to face issues there, but if they do, they can apply in person. This will take place during March.”

Generally, the Social Security Institution completes retirement applications in about two weeks. However, because hundreds of thousands of people may apply at the same time under the EYT regulation, it is prudent to expect that processing of applications submitted in March could take longer than usual.
