The devastating earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş caused significant loss of life and extensive damage across many provinces. Tens of thousands lost their lives and numerous buildings were destroyed. Rescue and relief efforts continue, and aid is still being provided to the earthquake survivors.
Authorities have worked to provide short-time working allowance and direct cash support in the 11 affected provinces. Many citizens impacted by the quake will benefit from these cash assistance measures. Currently, short-time working payments reach up to 4,000 TL. In addition, those who lost a spouse, parents, or a child in the disaster can apply for a survivor’s pension; eligible applicants will receive death pensions.

SHORT-TIME WORKING ALLOWANCE FOR EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS
Following this tragic earthquake, support and assistance for affected people continue to be provided. Reports indicate that the short-time working allowance, which can reach 4,000 TL, will be paid to earthquake victims in the region.

PAYMENTS POSSIBLE FOR UP TO 3 MONTHS
After the declaration of a state of emergency in the affected areas, relief has been delivered more quickly. Because a state of emergency or force majeure has been declared, short-time working allowance is planned for businesses and employees who cannot continue normal operations.
At present, the short-time working allowance can be granted for a period of up to three months. However, this period can be revised by a Presidential Decree. An announcement regarding the Presidential decision is expected soon.

SURVIVOR’S PENSION TO START ON MARCH 1
Those who lost close relatives in the quake may apply for a survivor’s pension. Spouses, parents, or children who died as a result of the disaster may be eligible for this benefit. The survivor’s pension will be granted to qualifying earthquake victims effective from March 1. Various other forms of assistance for survivors are also being provided continuously.
