The Consumer Confidence Index for May has been released. According to the latest information, the consumer tendency survey conducted jointly by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey has been completed. The seasonally adjusted consumer confidence index calculated from the survey results rose by 8.5% in May compared to the previous month. The index, which was 54.9 in April 2020, increased to 59.5 in May 2020.
May Consumer Confidence Index Figures
According to the announced results, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) published the consumer confidence index for May. The released index shows an 8.5% increase compared to April. While the index was 54.9 in April 2020, it rose to 59.5 in May 2020.
Household Financial Situation Expectation Index
The Household Financial Situation Expectation Index, which measures households’ expectations about their financial situation over the next 12 months, was 72.5 in April and rose to 79.2 in May.
General Economic Situation Expectation Index
The General Economic Situation Expectation Index, which reflects expectations about the overall economy for the next 12 months, was 74.8 in April and increased by 9.5 percentage points to 81.8 in May.
Unemployment Expectation Index
The Unemployment Expectation Index, indicating expected changes in the number of unemployed people over the next 12 months, was 53.8 in April and rose by 2.9 points to 55.3 in May.
Savings Probability Index
The Savings Probability Index, which shows the likelihood that households will save over the next 12 months, was 18.4 in April and increased to 21.7 in May.
