When Will Tax-Free Phones Be Sold? Current Status

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Kacır has commented on the tax-free phone initiative, stating that evaluations are ongoing and that a public announcement will follow when work is complete. He emphasized that the sale of tax-free phones is expected to begin soon. Kacır reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling the promise for students in formal education, saying, “Our President urges responsible parties and us to fulfill all promises as soon as possible.”

Reports indicate that President Erdoğan discussed the matter with Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, including whether imported phones would be eligible for the tax reduction.
