President Erdoğan Announces New Support Payments Between 24,000 and 60,000 TL

The government continues to provide various social aids for citizens in need and those facing hardship. Following the large earthquakes that recently struck Turkey, the number of social support programs has been increased to help address the resulting needs. These packages aim to help earthquake victims recover from the disaster’s impact.

A new support package has been announced among the measures revealed by President Erdoğan. Payments have been set for both those who own only one home and those without any property. In addition to mourning the loss of life, authorities aim to provide financial support to affected citizens.

RENT ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE WITHOUT HOMES

Following the two major earthquakes centered in Pazarcık and Elbistan, Kahramanmaraş, on February 6, eleven provinces experienced widespread destruction and loss of life. Subsequent tremors, including the recent event in Hatay, have continued to cause additional damage.

President Erdoğan announced a new set of support measures for those affected by the quakes. According to the announcement, individuals without any home and renters will receive rental assistance. Renters will be eligible for 2,000 TRY per month, totaling up to 24,000 TRY. For households rendered uninhabitable, a 15,000 TRY relocation allowance plus rental support between 2,000 TRY and 5,000 TRY has been specified. Previously, a one-time household support payment of 10,000 TRY had also been announced.

60,000 TRY HOUSING ASSISTANCE FOR HOMEOWNERS

Homeowners are targeted to receive up to 60,000 TRY in housing assistance. For these beneficiaries, a monthly shelter allowance of 5,000 TRY will be paid for 12 months. In addition, a 15,000 TRY relocation grant will be provided to help cover moving expenses for those affected.

100,000 TRY SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES OF THE DECEASED

Additional emergency payments have been announced to cover the urgent needs of earthquake victims. In particular, families who lost loved ones in the disaster are planned to receive a support payment of 100,000 TRY. These funds are intended to ease some of the financial burden and help victims recover.
