Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk Has Announced Updates on the LGS Exam! As our country goes through difficult times due to the coronavirus, one of the most closely followed questions is the status of the LGS exam. Students who missed almost the entire second term and will take the LGS are eagerly tracking the latest developments. Minister Ziya Selçuk has tried to answer students’ concerns one by one and provided detailed explanations.
Minister Selçuk reiterated that questions for the 2020 LGS will be prepared based on the face-to-face instruction given during the first term of 8th grade, considering that many students were unable to receive in-person education because of the coronavirus. He emphasized that there is currently no postponement planned for the 2020 LGS and that any decision to delay the exam would depend on the course of the pandemic. Selçuk also stated there will be no lessons during the summer holiday and that students’ grades from exams held in the first term will be taken into account.
Minister Selçuk Says LGS Questions Will Be Easier!
Minister Selçuk addressed expectations about the difficulty of the LGS exam and continued his remarks on the subject. In a live broadcast on Instagram, the Minister answered questions from 8th grade students who have been waiting for guidance. Regarding whether the 2020 LGS would be postponed due to the coronavirus, he said the course of the pandemic will determine whether a postponement is necessary. He also confirmed that the 2020 LGS will be held in person rather than online.
On the content and difficulty of the 2020 LGS questions, Minister Selçuk clarified that there will be no deliberate move to make the exam significantly harder this year. He stated there will be no intentional difficulty increase or decrease applied to the questions. Regarding summer-term lessons, he explained that using summer education is considered only as a last resort; therefore, there is no need for concern. The primary basis for assessment will remain the written exams that were already conducted during the first term.
