These payments, also referred to as SGK personal payments, are the cash compensations for social benefits individuals are entitled to beyond their salary. Eligible people can receive these payments, and SGK may reimburse expenses, especially for health-related costs.
Covering items such as education and travel, SGK personal payments are disbursed to individuals through designated institutions and on specified dates. These payments are additional to salaries and other fringe benefits. Employees can view and track these payments on the e-Government portal (e-Devlet) up until the payment is made:
- Log in to the e-Devlet portal via the turkiye.gov.tr website or mobile application.
- Complete identity verification to proceed with any transactions.
- Type “Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu” in the portal’s search box to list the institution’s e-services.
- Select the “Şahıs Ödemeleri Sorgulama” (Personal Payments Inquiry) service and open the information screen.
- The system performs the query automatically and displays the result on the screen.
You can also view past payments through e-Devlet. SGK provides historical payment information via the portal.

Who Is Eligible for SGK Personal Payments?
To benefit from SGK-paid expense items, a person must be employed under SGK-covered service records or have retired after working in one of these service branches. Therefore, individuals who have never worked under SGK coverage cannot request reimbursement from SGK.
Those who can receive personal payments include:
- Workers covered by 4A (former SSK) service records,
- Workers covered by 4B (former Bağ-Kur) service records,
- Workers covered by 4C (former Emekli Sandığı) service records,
- Retirees.
What Are SGK Personal Payments?
SGK covers many types of expense items for insured persons. While most payments are concentrated in the health sector, education and other expense types may also be reimbursed from time to time. The best-known personal payments are temporary incapacity benefits (sick pay) and breastfeeding allowances.
The main reimbursable personal payment categories include:
- Education: Cash compensation and educational assistance provided under 4A and 4B service categories.
- Housing and Travel: Expense reimbursements related to work, such as travel allowances. These are typically paid in three categories:
- Return of entrusted funds paid before Emsan transfers,
- Daily allowance payments,
- Travel payments.
- Salaries: Regular salaries paid within SGK are generally not classified as personal payments. However, the law recognizes three salary-related exceptions as personal payments:
- Retirement pensions that had been blocked and were later unblocked,
- Repayments of inactive retirement pensions,
- Pension payments to Bağ-Kur (4B) recipients ordered by a court decision.
- Health: Health-related reimbursements are among the most common personal payments. SGK treats the following as personal payments:
- Metabolic payments for insured people with celiac disease,
- Dental treatment reimbursements,
- Breastfeeding allowance,
- Temporary incapacity allowance (sick pay),
- Payments for adult diapers,
- Medication reimbursements,
- Health reimbursements accepted under treatment coverage,
- Support for medical supplies.
- Other: Payments outside education, salary, housing, and travel fall into the other payments category. Remaining personal payments include:
- 4B (Bağ-Kur) tobacco payments,
- Marriage assistance payments,
- Refunds and returns arising from income assessments.

How to Apply for SGK Personal Payments
Not all SGK payments require a formal application; the application process depends on the payment type. For example, to receive temporary incapacity allowance, it is usually sufficient for the employee to notify their employer with a medical report.
Some reimbursements, however, do require a written application. For instance, to recover a pension cut due to inactivity, the individual must submit a petition to SGK. Therefore, to make a correct personal payment application, submit the application form or petition appropriate to the payment type.
When Are SGK Personal Payments Paid?
Payment processing time varies between 15 days and 3 months from the application date. Payments such as sick pay are typically decided and paid within 15 days, while reimbursements like dental treatment fees can take up to 3 months. Personal payments are generally disbursed between the 8th and 14th of each month.
Funds transferred by SGK to banks on the 7th are usually credited to recipients’ accounts within the same week. SGK applies a two-month inactivity period for all payments: amounts not claimed within two months return to SGK’s account and require a petition to be reclaimed.
Where Are SGK Personal Payments Collected?
SGK has agreements with various public and private banking institutions to make payments. If a person has not registered a bank account, the default payment provider for personal payments is PTT. Payments made through PTT are issued against the recipient’s Turkish ID number, so the payment can be collected at the nearest PTT branch with an ID card.
Common institutions that frequently handle SGK payments include:
- Halk Bankası,
- PTT,
- Vakıf Bank,
- Ziraat Bankası.
SGK allows insured persons to register an IBAN to receive payments directly into their bank account. In addition to public banks, SGK has agreements with several private banks. Current partner banks may change over time; examples of banks that have been used for SGK payments include:
- Akbank,
- Burgan Bank,
- DenizBank,
- Fibabanka,
- Garanti Bankası,
- Halk Bankası,
- PTT Bank,
- QNB Finansbank,
- Türk Ekonomi Bankası (TEB),
- Türkiye İş Bankası,

How to Register a Bank Account for SGK Personal Payments
To avoid waiting at PTT, insured persons should register a personal bank account to receive SGK personal payments. There are multiple ways to register an account.
IBAN registration with SGK can be done in two main ways:
- e-Devlet: Many government services are integrated into e-Devlet and can be performed online, including SGK IBAN registration. After registering an IBAN, all SGK payments will be sent directly to that account. Steps typically include:
- Log into e-Devlet via the website or mobile app.
- Complete identity verification.
- Search for “Sosyal Güvenlik Kurumu” and list the services.
- Select “Şahıs Ödemeleri Banka Hesabı Tanımlama” (Define Bank Account for Personal Payments).
- Click the “yeni hesap tanımlama” (new account registration) button at the top right.
- Select the bank name on the new screen.
- Click “Sorgula” to list accounts associated with that bank.
- Choose the appropriate account and click “Devam et” (Continue).
- Confirm the details on the following screen and click “Devam et” to complete registration.
- Petition to SGK: The traditional method is submitting a written petition to SGK. The petition must clearly state the request and personal details. After submission, SGK staff will register the account. A petition to provincial or district SGK directorates should include:
- Addressed to the relevant social security center (e.g., “……….. Province/District Social Security Center”),
- A clear declaration indicating whether the applicant is insured or retired and their Turkish ID number (e.g., “I receive services from your institution as an insured/retired person with T.C. number ………………”),
- A request to register the IBAN and have all future payments made to that account (e.g., “I request that my account with IBAN ……………… at ……….. Bank be registered and that all future payments be directed to this account”),
- Date, full name, and signature in the appropriate places,
- The petition can be submitted in person or by mail.
