Circular Issued to 28 Coastal Provinces Over Coronavirus Impact

The Ministry has issued a circular to 28 coastal provinces due to the coronavirus. A directive has been sent to the 28 provinces on the coast, instructing that they must not act independently beyond the measures specified. According to breaking news, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has issued a circular to provinces with coastal areas as part of coronavirus precautions. The circular states that no contact should be made with any ship arriving from abroad whose health risk status has not been verified.

Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum announced that it is strictly prohibited to make contact with any vessel arriving from abroad that has not undergone required inspections and whose risk status has not been determined. After necessary checks, ships found not to pose a risk may be handled only while using protective equipment.

New Circular Sent to 28 Coastal Provinces

Measures against the coronavirus continue to be strengthened across the country. Minister Murat Kurum released a breaking statement via his Twitter account. According to that announcement, an additional precaution has been added to the nationwide measures: a new circular has been issued for the 28 provinces that border the sea.

In his post, Minister Kurum explained that under the circular, no contact will be made with any ship arriving from abroad unless its sanitary risk status has been determined. Once inspections confirm a vessel poses no risk, contact may only occur while personnel wear protective equipment. Waste must be separated, disinfected, and collected in closed bags. Mask, glove, and hygiene-related waste will be held in temporary storage for 72 hours before disposal. Waste from ships subject to domestic quarantine will be managed as medical waste.
