Justice Ministry Issues New Official Statement Today

The Ministry of Justice Has Announced a New Statement! According to the latest breaking information, the Ministry of Justice has announced good news about employment. In the announcement, made jointly with the Ministry of National Education, the ministries declared that where sufficient demand exists across Turkey, every penal and correctional facility will have kindergartens, nursery schools, high schools, and vocational-technical high schools established. It was also reported that approximately 2,500 teachers will be employed for these new educational institutions. In line with ongoing work, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of National Education are preparing to sign a comprehensive education and training protocol.

The agreement that the two ministries are preparing to sign is scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2020. Under the cooperation protocol, kindergartens and nursery schools will be set up for children aged 3–6 who are staying with their mothers in prisons. In addition, high schools and vocational high schools will be opened for children and young people who are detained or convicted in correctional facilities. Furthermore, inmates who currently attend vocational training centers in open prisons and juvenile education homes will have the opportunity to continue those programs; closed prisons’ detainees and convicts will also be able to benefit from vocational training centers.

Thousands of Inmates Will Benefit from the Offered Opportunities

According to the announcement, thousands of inmates will benefit from the opportunities provided. Under the planned protocol, inmates enrolled in open middle school and open high school programs will have “Supplementary Training Courses” opened for their core subjects. Subject teachers assigned to the correctional institutions will deliver face-to-face instruction for each course. Delivering education in this manner aims to implement a formal schooling model inside facilities and thereby raise the quality of instruction.

The announcement’s details indicate that, under the signed protocol, approximately 60,000 inmates and detainees in penal and correctional institutions are expected to actively participate in vocational training centers. It is also anticipated that the remaining 40,000 inmates and detainees will be able to benefit from other educational programs.
