He also noted that, in the context of the COVID-19 response, the ministry has taken new measures this year to protect dairy producers and livestock breeders. Accordingly, the ministry will provide feed support to small family farms for this year.
Minister Bekir Pakdemirli Issues a Statement on Sacrificial Animals
Minister Bekir Pakdemirli has issued an update on the situation regarding sacrificial animals. He reported that the country currently has approximately 3.6 million small ruminants and 1.2 million large ruminants suitable for sacrificial purposes. The ministry has implemented the necessary technical, hygienic and animal health measures to manage this stock safely.
In a related announcement, Minister Pakdemirli said that all provinces will be included in a classified raw milk support program. Under this program, additional premium payments will be made based on milk quality. The Farmer Registration System’s application deadline has been extended to September 1, 2020, in response to incoming requests and to ensure eligible producers can apply for support.
