Turkish Ministry Sets New EBA Remote Learning Schedule

The Ministry of National Education’s remote learning schedule has been announced. After schools were closed due to the coronavirus, an announcement long awaited by students and families has been made. How will EBA remote education lesson hours be organized? The Minister of National Education, Ziya Selçuk, provided details and published the necessary lesson schedules. Remote learning via EBA is now set for primary, middle and high school students, and the schedules have been shared with students and families. The remote learning program will begin on Monday, March 23, 2020, following the temporary school closures, and lesson times were determined individually by school level.

Remote education will be delivered through EBA TV across six broadcast channels so students will not fall behind. The broadcast schedule and format for distance learning have been determined: lessons will be streamed on EBA TV over six channels, and each lesson will last 20 minutes. This setup aims to provide comprehensive coverage of the curriculum while students remain at home.

How Will the MEB Remote Education Schedule Work?

The Ministry of National Education announced how the remote education schedule will operate. Broadcasts will be provided through TRT and EBA TV, using three separate channel groups and six distinct frequencies. Half of the broadcasts will be transmitted in HD and half in SD to reach households with different reception capabilities. Starting on Monday, March 23, 2020, students will continue their education remotely through the following channels:

  • EBA TV Primary School,
  • EBA TV Middle School,
  • EBA TV High School.

These channels were prepared in coordination with the Ministry and EBA to reflect the differing needs of each school level. The school-specific lesson plans and daily schedules were drawn up according to the school status and curriculum priorities.

The lesson schedule summary is provided below. Each lesson is assigned a 20-minute slot and the overall daily plan is arranged so that students at each school level can follow a structured learning day through EBA TV broadcasts. The announced program aims to ensure continuity of education by covering core subjects and offering age-appropriate content.

Families and students are encouraged to consult their school administrators for any school-specific adjustments or supplementary materials teachers may provide. The remote education broadcasts are intended to support students while schools are closed and to maintain instructional continuity until in-person classes can safely resume.
